Kirk Franklin has totally revolutionised and changed the face of Gospel Music and has made it more accessible to the younger generations and has included elements of Funk, R&B and traditional Gospel on this revolutionary album. This could go down in history as one of the greatest Gospel albums you will ever here. I think this album is amazing and it is totally inspiring.
This album come outin 1998, a couple of years before Mary Mary released ''Shackles (Praise You) into the mainstream charts. Mary Mary are absolutely stunning and they have very strong voices and a very positive spirit in them. They are a very talented duo and they are true worshippers of God.
Kirk Franklin has recieved a lot of criticism from the traditional black churches for making Gospel Music more accessible by making it more mainstream in sound and style. Before this album was recorded. Kirk Franklin recorded ''Stomp'', one of the classics that caused a turning point in Gospel music and brought so much freshness into the church.
This album starts of with an Interlude (The Verdict) and it takes place in a courtroom and it is about the Kirk Franklin vs the state of the world case. Kirk Frankin was accused of 3 things. Trying to take the Gospel to the world, Making Gospel Music too secular and tearing down the walls of religion.
''Revolution'', is a fantastic song which is about starting a revolution and it will get you dancing, clapping and stomping your feet. Kirk Franklin takes a huge risk in collaborating with R Kelly, Mary J Blidge, Bono and CCM artist Crystal Lewis on ''Lean On''. The lyrics are fantastic and thought provoking at the same time. Kirk Franklin goes in a Traditional Gospel direction on ''Something About The Name Jesus which is featuring an incredible, unique Gospel singer Rance Allen.
His vocal range totally blows me away, and his voice is so powerful. Totally awesome song. Keep it going Rance Allen. You have God's anointing and you inspire me.
''My Desire'' is featuring one of the most inspiring Gospel and Urban Praise and Worship artist Fred Hammond. he is absolutely incredible and from what I have heard of him, his music is awesome, incredible and emotional. He is a very powerful singer who has a real gift at starting a praise party.
If you are a fan of contemporary Gospel music, check out Fred Hammond. I think he is brilliant.
''Gonna Be A Lovely Day'' is a Mainstream Gospel stomper and I think that song is fantastic.
I am so proud of God for using Kirk Frankin in a powerful way to open up new doors for some upcoming Gospel Artists that are totally inspiring. Kirk Franklin has taken a lot of risk to make Gospel music more available to younger people.
Let us all start a revolution.
